New Book: The Christian Church’s LGBTQ Failure

Move toward a Biblical Approach of Speaking the Truth in Love

In a world as divisive as ours, can Christians ever find middle ground on LGBTQ+ issues?

Perhaps, if you’re willing to marry Biblical truths with grace and love in a nonjudgmental way that the extremes on both sides of the aisles have failed to do in the past.

The Christian Church's LGBTQ Failure: Move toward a Biblical Approach of Speaking the Truth in Love

Peter DeHaan, a lifelong student of the Bible, does just that in The Christian Church’s LGBTQ Failure. He won’t be politically correct, but he will be Biblically correct. And he certainly isn’t afraid to speak hard truths even if it makes people uncomfortable.

His goal is to see Christians like you push past the status quo and reconsider how you practice your faith in every area of your life, including how you handle LGBTQ+ issues.

If you’re looking for a dozen reasons why churches should judge and shun LGBTQ+ people, this book isn’t for you.

But it also isn’t for readers who want to embrace a progressive stance that places secular ideals over entire passages of Scripture to be more palatable for today’s politically correct society.

In a world marked by so much division, The Christian Church’s LGBTQ Failure forces conservative Christians to examine their history of judgmentalism while still upholding Biblical standards of sexual purity and marital sanctity.

And the book urges liberal Christians to reclaim the Bible as their ultimate guide instead of elevating worldly ideals.

In this thought-provoking, insightful book, Peter DeHaan encourages Christians to speak hard truths in love.

With sensitivity and empathy, Peter combines Biblical doctrine as well as Christian grace in a volume that’s critical reading for thoughtful believers on both sides of this debate.

For a reasonable, grace-filled conversation about how loving, Bible-believing Christians should respond to LGBTQ+ people and their allies, read The Christian Church’s LGBTQ Failure.

Peter DeHaan Publishing to Consolidate Imprints

Benefits Include Streamlined Production and Easier Management

Peter DeHaan Publishing Inc announced that it would consolidate imprints to streamline production, avoid unnecessary complexity when publishing books, and ease management.

President Peter DeHaan commented on the change noting that “Our four imprints had an elegant structure to them, which provided a source of personal pride, but they offered no benefit to readers and unnecessarily complicated the reporting and tracking of book sales.”

The four imprints are Rock Rooster Books, Spiritually Speaking Publishing, Advanced Call Center Resources, and Edgemore Publishing.

  • The Spiritually Speaking Publishing imprint focused on books about biblical Christianity.
  • As the name implies, Advanced Call Center Resources provided content for the call center and contact center industry, as well as telephone answering services.
  • Edgemore Publishing focused on fiction works, primarily young adult (YA) and new adult.

All three will merge into Rock Rooster Books. Prior to the consolidation, Rock Rooster Books served the business market, but will now become a generic imprint to cover all books in all formats.

Rock Rooster Books gets its name after company president Peter DeHaan. “Peter means stone or the rock in Hebrew, and DeHaan means the rooster in Dutch,” the publisher said.” Merging these together resulted in Rock Rooster Books.

“The transition has already begun but will take years to complete,” noted DeHaan. “As we update older books on these imprints, we’ll phase out their respective imprints and replace it with Rock Rooster Books.”

Edgemore Publishing, however, has already been phased out. Advanced Call Center Resources will follow soon. Because of the number of books produced under the Spiritually Speaking Publishing imprint, phasing it out will take much longer.

This effort to consolidate imprints will not affect readers, book availability, or production schedules. “It’s an internal process to allow for increased efficiency and smoother operational management,” DeHaan concluded.

Peter DeHaan Attends 2012 Festival of Faith and Writing Conference

Peter DeHaan attended the recent Festival of Faith and Writing conference held at Calvin College in Grand Rapids Michigan on April 19 through 21. The three-day event was attended by 2,000 from across the United States and around the world; it featured 64 presenters.

At the Festival, attendees were treated to an array of presentations and readings from notable authors, including Lucy Shaw, Shane Claiborne, and scores of other accomplished writers. The event also featured a concert by Bruce Cockburn.

Normally writing non-fiction, DeHaan focused his attention on several presentations about writing memoirs. “I’m currently working on two memoirs,” stated DeHaan.

“Both address my lifelong practice of—and struggle with—church attendance. The sessions I attended will be a huge benefit as I write, helping me to navigate some of the tricky challenges that come with memoir writing.”

DeHaan attended sessions led by memoir writers such as Amy Julia Becker, River Jordan, Jana Reiss, Jennifer Grant, Margot Starbuck, Daniel Taylor, Kate Braestrup, and Paula Hudson.

“The Festival of Faith and Writing is a first-class conference,” DeHaan added, “and the beautiful Calvin College campus is an ideal location.” The biennial event started in 1990, with the next one planned for 2014.
